Ostrava at the congress of congresses
The 2017 Congress of the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) was held in the Czech capital Prague from 12–15 November. This “congress of congresses” is one of the most prominent and prestigious events in the industry calendar. This year was the 56th ICCA Congress, featuring over 1 300 delegates – and it ranked among the largest and most successful congresses in the event’s long and illustrious history.
Professionals from the transport, congress and accommodation industries came to Prague from over 90 countries all around the world to discuss the latest trends in MICE tourism – as well as experiencing for themselves what the Czech Republic has to offer.
Ostrava’s presentation showcased the city and the region in a fun, entertaining form, with a photo studio held at the opening evening in the Žofín Palace. Delegates could have their photo taken against three simulated backgrounds: competing against Usain Bolt at Ostrava’s prestigious Golden Spike international athletics meeting, posing alongside the floodlit Bolt Tower at the city’s Lower Vítkovice industrial heritage complex, or enjoying their own few seconds of fame on the podium at Colours of Ostrava – one of Europe’s premier summer music festivals. All the delegates enjoyed the fun tremendously – see the photo gallery.
